iPod Touch and iPhone offer a lot of different applications to download. These apps can help you get more organized, distract you in the doctor’s waiting room, or locate the nearest restroom during a road trip. A lot of apps though, are complete garbage. Use this list to help download apps that will actually help improve your life.

1. Facebook App

The Facebook App allows you to log onto Facebook through your phone. You can upload pictures, update your status, and keep track of what your friends are doing all through this handy app. It allows you to stay in contact with your social media sources while on the go, so you’ll never have to miss a thing.

2. Trapster

Trapster is a free app, but it will save you a lot of money and hassle from the police in the long run. Trapster syncs up to the GPS system in your iPod Touch or iPhone and tells you where there are police cars, speed traps, and radars. It also keeps you up-to-date on speed limits of different highways.

3. Yelp

Yelp allows you to view reviews of restaurants and bars before you go dine at them. You can learn about their business hours, menu selection, and customer service skills. It also shows you an automated “street view” of the restaurant so you know what the place looks like before you even arrive there.

4. Shazam

Did you ever wonder what that great song was that you heard at a coffee shop? This free app allows you to learn the song title and artist in one quick and easy step. Just hold your iPod Touch or iPhone up to the speakers and it will tell you all of the information you want to know about the song.

5. FlightTrack Pro

FlightTrack Pro is your best friend at the airport. This handy little app helps you check itineraries for outgoing flights and is smart enough to predict the weather on the day your flight is suppose to leave. It also gives you airport delays and closures so you always have the peace of mind of knowing when your plane leaves.

6. Mint

Even if the recession has not affected you, Mint is the perfect way to keep track of your money. It helps you manage your linked finances and sends you status updates while you’re on the go.

iPhone and iPod software can help you manage your life and have fun while doing it.
